McKinley dollar tops Mastro

In April, Mastro Auctions held its Premier and Connoisseur auctions, which altogether realized about $8.6 million for items including coins, bank notes, sports memorabilia, sports cards, political items, paintings, comics, toys, decorative glass and autographs.

Among numismatic highlights was a 1903 McKinley gold dollar commemorative graded Proof-64 Cameo by Numismatic Guaranty Corp. It sold for $14,400.

A uniface copper pattern for the 1850 Mormon $5 obverse, Kagin 7, graded choice brilliant uncirculated by the auction firm, brought $8,400.

A 1909-S VDB Lincoln cent in NGC MS-65 RB went for $4,800, and an 1893-S Morgan dollar graded VG-8 by ANACS went for $3,240.

Bank notes included a Mormon-related 1837 $10 Kirtland Safety Society bank note signed by Joseph Smith that reached $6,600.
