Lucky sets ready to go

Sales begin Dec. 3 for two lucky money issues by the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

Celebrating the upcoming Year of the Ox is an uncirculated $1 Federal Reserve Note with a lucky serial number beginning with “8888” housed in a red folder with gold foil highlights.

Price is $5.95 and 68,888 is the maximum that can be sold.

The Year of the Ox is one of 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac and it signifies good fortune and prosperity.

The second item is a “Lucky Money 8.8.8 Set.” It includes three notes, uncirculated Series 2006 $1 Federal Reserve Note, Series 2003A $2 FRN and Series 2003 $5 FRN. The three notes have matching serial numbers that start “8888.” All notes have eight-digit serial numbers.

Price of the set is $48.88. No more than 8,888 will be sold.

Each note is housed in an acid-free polymer sleeve.

The BEP, which is the U.S. government agency responsible for the printing of all U.S. paper money, says it has bulk pricing for quantity sales.
