Lincoln set marks club’s 75th year

The Des Moines, Iowa Coin Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2011 by issuing encased Lincoln dollars and cents and a limited quantity of 1936 cents.

The obverse of the coin encasement reads “Des Moines Coin Club” separated by a three-legged buffalo across the top. The shape of the state of Iowa is outlined with a star representing Des Moines, the capital of Iowa, at the bottom and an ear of corn on the left. The dollar coin encasement reads “Since 1936,” and the cents read “75 years.”

United States tokens prove big things do come in small packages!

The reverse of the Lincoln dollar encasement reads, “Preserve, Protect And Defend the Constitution of the United States.” The reverse of the Lincoln cents reads, “Whatever You Are, Be a Good One,” with Abraham Lincoln’s signature.

The club is also offering the presidential quote on the obverse instead of the reverse for the 2011 cents and Lincoln dollars in limited quantities.

Prices are as follows: the 2010 Lincoln dollar is $3; the 2011 cent is $2; the 1936 cent is $3. Shipping is $1 plus $.50 for each additional coin.
