Hollis joins ANA governor race

Paul Hollis of Mandeville, La., who operates Paul Hollis Rare Coins, has formally announced his candidacy for a seat on the board of governors of the American Numismatic Association.

He contacted Numismatic News April 13.

“This is such an important time period in our hobby as our entire nation has been introduced to the joys of coin collecting with the state quarters and all of the various programs sponsored by the United States Mint,” Hollis said. “Coin collecting has experienced rapid growth and our hobby is far more mainstream today than what I ever imagined possible. I hope as an ANA governor to continue to promote our hobby and to help groom as many of these new collectors into serious hobbyists as possible in the coming years.” Hollis said.

He has been involved in numismatics since he was 6 years old, he said, when his grandmother gave him his first gold coin.

“Her giving me that coin ignited a passion for coin collecting and America’s great history that has been with me now for 30 years” Hollis explained.

After graduating from Louisiana State University with a degree in political science, he went to work with Blanchard and Company in New Orleans and eventually left to start his own rare coin firm.

“I want to bring my enthusiasm for numismatics to as many people as possible,” Hollis said.

He added that he has pledged to bring all of his energy to the board of governors if elected.
