Heller wins Entrepreneurial Award

Patrick A. Heller, owner of Liberty Coin Service, was named the winner of the 2010 Entrepreneurial Awards of Greater Lansing in the Retail category. The 16th annual awards ceremony, sponsored by local businesses, was held March 10 at the Lansing, Mich., Radisson Hotel.

“This award recognizes the tremendous long-term growth of Liberty Coin Service,” said Heller. “Annual sales have increased more than 30 times since I started here in 1981 and staff has grown from three to 17. Beyond that, the judges also took into consideration the fact that Liberty Coin Service, over its history, has encouraged a surprisingly high percentage of its student employees to go on to successful entrepreneurial careers. I am as honored at this award as I was when I received the 2004 Entrepreneurial Awards of Greater Lansing in the Socially Responsible category.”

Liberty Coin Service was established in 1971. It is Michigan’s largest rare coin and precious metal bullion dealership.

Heller writes the company’s monthly newsletter, Liberty’s Outlook, and also weekly gold and precious metals commentaries for NumisMaster.com and CoinUpdate.com. He is the precious metals commentator for WILS-1320 AM.

Heller was honored with the American Numismatic Association Presidential Award in 2008. As a member of the Michigan Quarter Commission appointed by former Gov. John Engler, Heller was the primary author of the written descriptions supplied to the U.S. Mint for the design of the 2004 Michigan quarter.
