CSNS announces new Bowers Award

The Central States Numismatic Society has announced the creation of the Q. David Bowers Award in recognition of lifetime achievement by a numismatic professional.

This award is designed to recognize the unselfish devotion, scholarly contributions, and investments of time and resources made by a numismatic professional to the hobby.

“The professional side of the hobby is often asked to fund many of the benefits the collector side of the hobby enjoys,” said Mitch Ernst, CSNS President.

“Sadly, those contributions many times go unrecognized by the organizations that have long benefited by these contributions made by the numismatic professionals of our hobby.”

The inaugural Q. David Bowers Award presentation will take place on Saturday morning, April 27, during the CSNS Award Ceremony at the organization’s 80th Anniversary Convention in Schaumburg, Ill., which will be held from April 24-27.

The recipient will be chosen by the CSNS Convention Committee, composed primarily of numismatic professionals.

According to CSNS Convention Chairman Kevin Foley, the award has been aptly named.

“When one thinks of a numismatic professional whose work has benefitted all in the numismatic hobby industry, the name Q. David Bowers stands alone,” Foley said.
