Chicago Paper Money Expo Set: March 8-11

IOLA, Wis. (Feb. 20, 2012) — One of the most important paper money events in the world takes place this month in Chicago, as the 18th annual Chicago Paper Money Expo descends on the Crowne Plaza O’Hare.

[description]This leading show will be held in Rosemont, Ill., March 8-11, and feature a signature auction from Lyn Knight, a bourse packed with the country’s leading paper money dealers, attendees looking to buy and informative club meetings.

“CPMX is one of our favorite weeks of the year,” said CPMX chairman Scott Tappa, also publisher of Krause Publications‘ numismatics group. “Other shows may have hundreds of dealers, and thousands of attendees, but I’ll put CPMX up against any of them. It’s a great show!

“A colleague often says that you can judge the success of a numismatic event by the buzz in the room, and I will wager that at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8, the main ballroom of the Crowne Plaza will sound like a bee hive. The leading paper money dealers, auction houses and collectors in the country will be there, so if you’re involved in that world you don’t want to miss it!”

Lot viewing begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, with the first session – cover world bank notes – set for 5 p.m. Thursday, March 8. U.S. currency sessions will run at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. [description]Krause Publications’ paper money editors and experts will be in attendance at CPMX, including Bank Note Reporter editor Bob Van Ryzin, Standard Catalog of World Paper Money editor George Cuhaj and U.S. paper money market analyst Bill Brandimore.
