Arrest made in Leidman theft

A Manhattan businessman has been arrested in connection with the theft of coins a year ago from dealer Julian Leidman.

The FBI’s New York office confirmed the arrest Oct. 4, according to a story posted online by the Daily Record, Parsippany, N.J.

The businessman, who was not identified, was arrested for an alleged role in stealing more than 1,000 rare coins and notes from Leidman’s minivan while it was parked at a Montville, N.J. restaurant.

Leidman was returning from a coin show in Stamford, Conn., when the theft occurred.

A passenger-side window had been broken and four bags taken from the minivan.

About 90 percent of the stolen coins and notes has been recovered, according to the report.
