The Smithsonian Institution presents the ?Guide to Coin Collecting? (Collins, $19.95, trade paperback) written by David L. Ganz, the ?father of the state quarter program,? and a Numismatic News contributor.
With full-color illustrations, historical context, step-by-step explanations and expert advice, this book guides you through the process of starting a collection.
The book begins with the history of coin collecting, and continues with an explanation of how coins are made, the elements of coin design and famous coin collectors. Updated for the digital age, this guide also features tips on how to make the most of current Internet resources and auction sites.
