Bureau of Engraving and Printing employees Kevin Brown and Karen Smith will be bestowed the American Numismatic Association?s Outstanding Government Service Award at the World?s Fair of Money Baltimore, Md.
This annual award recognizes individuals working for a government, governmental agency or international organization who have helped advance the interests of collectors of coins, tokens, medals and paper money.
Brown, the BEP?s marketing manager, serves as a spokesperson for the Bureau as a member of the Office of External Relations and oversees its marketing and public sales programs and the exhibition program for numismatic, philatelic and corporate events. Smith is the exhibits coordinator and marketing specialist for the BEP?s Office of External Relations, Marketing Division. Both have contributed to ANA conventions by giving educational programs and arranging hands-on demonstrations.
?Kevin Brown and Karen Smith have been guiding forces in encouraging more BEP involvement in educational forums for the past five years,? said Patricia Jagger Finner, ANA vice president, who nominated the two BEP staffers.
