AnnounceMints: The Declaration of Independence Quarter
The latest Semiquincentennial quarter honors the Declaration of Independence with images of Thomas Jefferson and the iconic Liberty Bell.
Coming on June 16, the Semiquincentennial quarter, celebrating the Declaration of Independence, will be available in rolls and bags from the Mint.
The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson, with the help of John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston. A portrait of Jefferson graces the obverse.
On the reverse, the Liberty Bell is ringing. The U.S. Mint’s description reads, “While it is unclear whether it rang out in July 1776, the Liberty Bell often rang to draw people near and share an announcement, or a declaration. The Bell’s crack is visible… echoing the fragility of a young nation at its founding.”
The 100-coin bags are available from both Philadelphia and Denver, and the 2-roll sets include coins from both mints.
