Gold token book out in 3rd edition
Alaska Rare Coins has announced the publication of the 3rd edition of the book, Striking Gold in Alaska, Making tokens from placer gold, by Dick Hanscom. It follows the process from purchasing placer gold, to preparing the gold for striking, to engraving the dies, to striking. It also lists sources of supplies and equipment as well as information on striking silver. Continue reading
Token society issues medal
“Buffalo Hunter” is the theme of the 2011 medal of the National Utah Token Society. It weighs 1 ounce and has a diameter of 39mm. The central design features a bison as depicted on the U.S. Buffalo nickel. “Buffalo Hunter” is above, and “American Heritage” and “2011” are below. The obverse and reverse of the nickel also appear at the bottom of the design. Continue reading
