Mount Hood Buyers Take Half

Buyers of the 2010 Mount Hood 5-ounce silver uncirculated collector coins were a little less eager than purchasers of the previous designs during the first few days they were available. Sales began July 28 and as of the Aug. 1 weekly Mint statistical report the quantity purchased stood at 14,759. The maximum number available is 27,000, the same as for the prior four 2010 designs. San Francisco Eagles halted

The San Francisco Mint has paused its production of 2011 silver American Eagle bullion coins, Tom Jurkowsky, U.S. Mint public affairs director, said July 26. So far, the western mint has produced 2,305,000 of the one-ounce bullion coins and it has 985,000 of that number remaining in inventory. Continue reading

2011 platinum Eagles on sale

Sales for the 2011 American Eagle 1 ounce platinum proof coin opened May 26 by the U.S. Mint. This year’s coin features the third reverse design in the six-year Preamble Series.
