Walter Ostromecki defeated Arthur Fitts for the office of vice president in the only contested race in this year’s American Numismatic Association election. He received 3,217 votes. Fitts received 2,431 votes. Balloting was conducted by mail in June and the first half of July. Results were released July 2. Continue reading
Four members of the American Numismatic Association Hall of Fame were on hand July 2 as the organization began to unveil the progress it is making on the new approach to it. Plaques have been prepared for all of the members of the Hall of Fame. When the project is completed, they will be attached to the outside wall by the main entrance to the headquarters building in Colorado Springs, Colo. Continue reading

Ballot envelopes have the words, “Official election ballot” printed in the lower left corner and include the election auditing firm’s return address: BiggsKofford, P.C., 630 Southpointe Court, Suite 200, Colorado Springs, CO 80906. Matthew Tormey and the Tucson Coin Club have been named grand prize winners in the American Numismatic Association’s 2011 National Coin Week activities. Tormey, a Massachusetts native and ANA Young Numismatist, receives a Mint State 1864 2-cent piece for finishing first in the Civil War video scavenger hunt. Continue reading
The American Numismatic Association’s Museum Showcase, featuring rare and historically significant numismatic treasures, will be on display at the 2011 ANA World’s Fair of Money Aug. 16-20 in Chicago. The showcase includes rarities from the Edward C. Rochette Money Museum, the Smithsonian Institution and private collections. Continue reading
