The fifth and final 2011 5-ounce America the Beautiful silver uncirculated collector version of the Chickasaw National Recreation Area quarter went on sale at the U.S. Mint’s website and telephone call center at noon Eastern Time Feb. 9. Continue reading
Final designs for the five America the Beautiful quarters that will be issued in 2012 were released by the U.S. Mint Dec. 8. The first new quarter of the new year will honor El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico. It will depict a Coqui tree frog sitting on a leaf and a parrot behind an epiphyte plant, according to the Mint. It was designed by Gary Whitley, an Artistic Infusion master designer, and sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, a Mint sculptor-engraver. Continue reading

Order restrictions were lifted Aug. 9 on the 2010 Grand Canyon America the Beautiful 5-ounce uncirculated collector coin with a “P” mintmark. Until then, purchasers were limited to one coin each. Continue reading
Buyers of the 2010 Mount Hood 5-ounce silver uncirculated collector coins were a little less eager than purchasers of the previous designs during the first few days they were available. Sales began July 28 and as of the Aug. 1 weekly Mint statistical report the quantity purchased stood at 14,759. The maximum number available is 27,000, the same as for the prior four 2010 designs.
