Dates for Central States run to 2021

The Central States Numismatic Society has done those of us who attend its annual convention a big favor.

A contract has been signed for the organization’s annual conventions through 2021.

I plan ahead and I appreciate it when I get a little help in this regard.

I can keep my calendar clear of other commitments.

The dates for 2016 are April 27-30.

For the other years, the dates are:

April 26-29, 2017.

April 25-28, 2018.

April 24-27, 2019.

April 22-25, 2020.

April 21-24, 2021.

You might smile as I did when I realized this run of dates will also take us to the end of the America the Beautiful quarter series, which concludes in 2021 with the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site quarter.

Another series of quarters might begin in 2021 as well and that would be something on the minds of all collectors.

The location for all of these gatherings will be the Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center where it has been held since 2012.

It is an easy walk from the hotel to the convention center in an enclosed environment.

Both parts of the facility are modern and comfortable.

I find the location to be very convenient.

Being in northern Illinois, I can drive, which is a nice change from many shows that I go to that require the expense of an airline ticket.

In the budget-conscious economy that we work in, this is a boost.

It is also near a shopping area with other restaurant options.

This increases both the variety and the potential to save more money by sampling these options.

If you don’t want to leave the secure environment provided by the hotel, you are good to go, too.

The Central States press release quotes CSNS President Bruce Perdue as saying, “Schaumburg is just an all around great place for a numismatic convention. The hotel staff is especially security conscious and provides 24-hour patrols in the parking lot during our event. The hotel has almost everything anyone could want, three different dining outlets in a wide range of prices from deli food to fine dining.”

I can vouch for that.

I have sampled them all.

Perdue also reminds attendees that Illinois is business friendly.

There is no sales tax on coins, bullion or currency.

The hotel room rate for 2016 is $155. Telephone (847) 303-4100 and mention “Central States Numismatic 2016.”

Convention chairman Kevin Foley can be reached at (414) 807-0116.

There we have it.

Firm dates. Secure and comfortable location. Friendly regulatory environment.

What more can we ask for?
