Anyone who has ever served on a board of any kind will sympathize with members of the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee at this morning’s meeting at Mint headquarters in Washington, D.C.
The agenda announcement laid out in few words a rather heavy load.
This is how it is described:
“Review and discussion of candidate designs for the 2014 American Eagle Platinum Coin Program and the 2014 First Spouse Gold Coin and Bronze Medal Program.
All are important issues. All will prompt members of CCAC to want to share their thoughts.
How much time there is for any in-depth discussion on each program looks to be limited. Will that satisfy them?
On the other hand, sometimes, boards do reach consensus quickly.
Which will it be today? I don’t know, but I wish CCAC members good luck in their deliberations. They have had a remarkably positive impact on Mint coinage programs and the quality their artwork.
I expect today’s juggling of various agenda items will simply be a display of CCAC members’ talents.
What it isn’t is a meeting of punch and cookies held just six days before a major holiday.
