An attendance record was set at Waukesha Coin Club’s annual show held. March 13 at the Waukesha American Legion Hall. The club reported that nearly 600 people came out for the event.
“It was a zoo!” exclaimed Tom Snyder, bourse director and chairman.
By show’s end, dealers were cleaned out of silver bullion items and coins worth close to melt value, plus common Morgan dollars, Snyder reported.
Cents were not hot-ticket items.
“One dealer had a case of Lincoln and Indian Head cents that he said he didn’t even need to bring along as there was zero interest in them,” said Snyder.
John Watta won Best in Show for his 12-piece gold type set and complete gold Indian quarter eagle set.
Club members were particularly delighted by the appearance of Harold Koeffler, fellow member and retired Mukwonago, Wis., auto dealer, who will turn 100 on Nov. 5.
