Toronto Blue Jays get coin

A new $20 silver coin marking the 40th anniversary of the Toronto Blue Jays has been created by the Royal Canadian Mint.

The colorized silver-dollar-sized piece is priced at $99.95 each in Canadian funds. In contains one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver.

Mintage will be a maximum of 40,000.

The RCM is donating $25,000 to the Jays Care Foundation.

“As the Minister of Finance, I am very pleased that the Mint is commemorating the 40th season of Canada’s baseball team with this beautiful new coin,” said the Bill Morneau, Minister of Finance.

“The Toronto Blue Jays have inspired generations of Torontonians and Canadians alike, from their inception in 1976, to their back-to-back World Series wins in 1992 and 1993, to their exhilarating season last year.”
