The Numismatic Ambassadors receive a plaque and lapel pin and have their names engraved on a permanent plaque n the Krause Publications office in Iola, WI.
Brief biographies of the award recipients follow:
If coin shows are a safe place to do business, that often is thanks to Robert Brueggeman, who has been active in coin show security since 1976 and was the founder of Positive Protection in 1980. Security doesn’t begin and end at the convention center bourse floor. He protects auction lot viewing sessions, and his firm provides 20-30 security escorts per week. His association with numismatics began at the New York American Numismatic Association convention in 1976. That event set him on course to spend most of the next four decades in numismatics. He is also executive director of the Professional Numismatists Guild, a post he has held since 1994. In that position he improved finances and has seen membership grow. A third hat is his position as a principal in the York International Numismatic Convention, a premier world coin show held each January. As a collector he focuses on gold coins.
Richard Josefiak has not only exhibited since 1991 at local, state, regional and national coin shows, but he also takes the next step and mounts general numismatic exhibits at local schools and libraries and at civic programs. He is an active hobby volunteer, having service as American Numismatic Association District Representative since 2007. He has been an ANA volunteer since 1993, having been past club and district represenatives, as well as a past regional coordinator. He founded the Madison County, Ala., Coin Club in 2001, has served as its president and has been its secretary since 2006. He was vice president of the Montgomery County, Md., Coin Club 1999-2000 and was president of the South Brevard, Fla., Coin Club. He was an ANA Summer Seminar instructor in 2012, teaching “What is Exonumia?” He is an active speaker and writer. He is an active supporter of Young Numismatist programs at the Georgia Numismatic Association and the Blue Ridge Numismatic Association shows. He has won the ANA Medal of Merit and Glenn Smedley Awards, as well as the Terry Armstrong Memorial Award for Outstanding Regional Coordinator.
New London, Conn.
Scott Rottinghaus is a member of the American Numismatic Association board of governors. He was an active Young Numismatist who now gives back to the program. He is a YN committee member. He is an instructor at the ANA Summer Seminar in the field of Roman and Greek coins. He started in 1990. He has been a YN mentor and chaperone since 1997 and a Summer Seminar attendee since 1987. His proposer says he has 36 numismatic articles to his credit and is a columnist for ANA’s The Numismatist. He wrote scripts for the ANA/NPR radio program “Money Talks.” He has won exhibit awards at regional and national coin shows. He speaks at local and regional coin club meetings. He is a member of the American Numismatic Society, Central States Numismatic Society, Florida United Numismatists, Royal Numismatic Society, New England Numismatic Association, Texas Numismatic Association, Pawcatuck Valley Coin Club and Central Connecticut Coin Club.
