Shows to be held in Old San Fran Mint

The Old U.S. Mint building in San Francisco will open its doors for four days only in 2010 for the “Old SF Mint Coin Show,” sponsored by Griffin Coin Company, April 23-24 and Sept. 17-18.

More than 30 coin and currency dealers will be in attendance to showcase U.S. and world coins and paper money. The show will also offer complimentary tours of the building three times each day, as well as drawings and door prizes.

“Gathering the local and regional numismatic community in such a significant location for our hobby is a blessing,” said Scott Griffin, owner of Griffin Coin Company.

Show hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. each day. Admission is $5 per show, valid for both days. Coupons for discounted admission are available online. Children under 12 are admitted at no charge.

The Old U.S. Mint building is located on the corner of 5th and Mission Streets in downtown San Francisco.

The Pickwick Hotel has reserved a block of rooms for the show at $84 per night plus tax. Call the hotel at (415) 995-5214 and mention “Old SF Mint Coin Show” to receive the special rate.
