Ready for Long Beach

With more than 2,000 dealers expected to attend, the bourse floor at the Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo should be hopping Sept. 22-24 at the Long Beach, Calif., Convention Center.

So get ready to wheel and deal.

“Three major grading services will provide on-site grading and encapsulation during the show, a gold coin door prize will be awarded each day and the extremely popular kid’s treasure hunt will be conducted on Saturday, said Ronald J. Gillio, expo general chairman.

Show hours are Thursday and Friday, Sept. 22-23, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The show is closed on Sunday. A complete schedule of events can be found at www.LongBeachShow.com.

Admission is $8, good for all three days. Collectors with a valid membership card in any coin and stamp club can get in for $5. Seniors age 65 and older will be admitted for $4, and there is free admission for children ages seven and younger.

The main attraction at Long Beach is a $10 million exhibit featuring some of the finest known Type I “No Motto” double eagles. The display is sponsored by Monaco Financial of Newport Beach, Calif., and features the finest known 1854 New Orleans Mint $20, graded AU-58 by Numismatic Guaranty Corp. The coin was recovered two years ago from the 1865 shipwreck of the S.S. Republic.
