PCGS dealers visit ANA

Several dozen dealers attended an after-hours reception and dinner at the American Numismatic Association headquarters and toured a working gold mine in Cripple Creek, Colo., as part of the Professional Coin Grading Service’s 22nd Dealer Invitational Aug. 29-30.

Participants were able to leisurely examine ANA Money Museum displays of the Harry W. Bass Jr. collection of U.S. gold coins and paper money, an exhibition of mint errors entitled, “Oops! Mistakes on Money” and an exhibit of early Americana, “Barter, Bits & Dollars: The Money of Colonial America.”

“We usually hold the Dealer Invitational shows several times a year in Las Vegas, but this time we offered dealers the opportunity to see the amazing exhibits at the ANA Money Museum.  The educational displays are truly extraordinary,” said Miles Standish, PCGS senior vice president.

“One of the dealers later remarked, ‘It was awesome to have dinner sitting near two 1804 silver dollars and two 1913 Liberty Head nickels.’
