The Ohio collector received a 1907 High Relief Wire Rim Saint-Gaudens gold $20 graded MS-60 by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.

Heritage said Conaway is a longtime Heritage Auctions member.

After collecting Morgan silver dollars, Conaway began acquiring silver ingots produced by the U.S. government seven years ago.

Heritage said his ingot collection rivals any ever assembled privately.

Conaway uses the Heritage Auction archives for research.

“Being able to look back to the early 2000s and study each of the ingots sold by Heritage Auctions in the last great collection,  that of Alan Bingel, is absolutely priceless,” Conaway said.

An 1892 U.S. Assay Office New York silver ingot is the prize of his collection. It is the oldest dated government ingot known and it was acquired at Heritage’s ANA Signature Auction in Chicago last year, Conaway said.
