When paper money came into regular use in the United States during the Civil War, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency was created to oversee the resulting National Banks and their paper money issues.
Next year the 150th anniversary will be marked by OCC. It has called for papers on this history to tell the OCC story.
Deadline for proposals is May 11, 2012. The OCC will notify authors of its decision by June 30, 2012. Completed papers will be due by May 30, 2013.
