The first half of August saw five new Mint releases: the unc. 2012 silver American Eagle, the Making American History Coin & Currency set, bags and rolls of “S” Acadia National Park quarters, the 2012 American Eagle platinum proof and the Acadia 5-ounce silver unc. coin.
How will collectors react to the silver American Eagle? Sure, it’s silver. But is it overkill?
Speaking of silver American Eagles, a 2012-S silver proof accompanies the Series 2009 $5 note in the coin and currency set. It has an initial production limit of 50,000 sets and an established production limit of no more than 100,000 sets.
How will the much talked-about set do?
Only time will tell, so keep an eye on the Mint Statistics pages in the coming weeks to see how the issues perform in the dog days of summer. Or should we say silver days of summer?
