Mint Stats: More interest or less in dollars?

Will the government’s decision to strike no more Presidential dollars for circulation and restrict their mintages to the number purchased by collectors increase the number of bags and rolls that collectors buy?

I don’t know the answer to that, but I expect the dollar listings on these pages will take on a little bit more importance as collectors follow the potential mintages.

Foundations of Coin Collecting Master Box

Each element of this multimedia package provides a distinct educational opportunity for any coin collector.

The reverse could be true if the Mint decides to pull a number out of the air, say 2 million, and label it the bag and roll mintage and sell the coins until they run out. We’ll see.

Judging by the increases in regular collector sets this week, it would seem that some collectors found coins under their Christmas trees.

The 2011 clad proof set leaped over the 1 million mark, adding 22,346 to the running tally. The set is closing the gap with the 2010 set count, which now is less than 80,000 higher.

Just 400 additional Chickasaw 5-ounce bullion coins sold. The total is 25,100.
