Mint Statistics: Many asterisks denote coins off sale

The asterisk was the most frequently used non-numerical keystroke as I put this weekly set of numbers together from the Mint’s sales report. Many things have gone off sale.

Some new items have arrived. Bullion 2018 American Eagle and Buffalo coins have begun to move out the door at the Mint.

The proof 2018-W silver American Eagle was a new arrival Jan. 4. In the first three days, the Mint sold 211,071. That is already 57 percent of the number sold for the 2017-W. The earlier coin is still available. Sales for it stand at 370,942. I will find a spot for the 2018 number, but first readers need to study the many coins that have gone off sale. Eventually, they will be removed from these weekly pages. The 2018-W proof silver Eagle once it has a home here will likely remain for at least two years as the Mint allows proof Eagle sales to run for a long time.
