Mint Statistics: Gold coins tell their stories in numbers

Let’s talk about gold. The gold Buffalo proof coin went on sale. Initial numbers show collectors grabbed 7,597 in the first three days. To make room, I took the 2016 gold proof sales number off the chart below. It was 21,878. Write that down. We will make comparisons in the weeks ahead.

The American Liberty $100 gold coin passed the 20,000 mark. It is a nice round number, but well below the maximum that could be sold of 100,000. In any case, the current sales figure is precisely 20,087.

Bullion gold Eagles are moving ahead. They took a week longer than silver Eagles, but the May gold number is now ahead of the entire month of April, 8,500 ounces compared to 6,000.

Proof silver 2017 American Eagles moved ahead by just 2,199, bringing total sales to 253,049.

Accountants took eight sets off the 2017 Congratulations Set total, so it now stands at 74,898.
