The Memphis Coin Club, founded in 1936, is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2011. To commemorate the milestone, it is issuing two souvenir items. Penny Press Mint of Green Bay, Wis., has created an encased 1936 full-date Buffalo nickel, and Michael Bean has prepared a two-color, engraved 8×10-inch souvenir card.

The obverse of the coin encasement reads “Memphis Coin Club,” “Seventy-Fifth Anniversary” and “1936-2011.” It is decorated with a pyramid on each side and a Mississippi River steamboat at the bottom.

The reverse reads “Founder of the Memphis International Paper Money Show.” At the bottom is an outline of the Hernando DeSoto Bridge spanning the Mississippi River at Memphis. Below the bridge is the maker’s mark, “PPM, GB, WISC.”
