The first (and perhaps only) Sacagawea dollar coin found with Presidential dollar edge lettering on it will be sold in an online auction July 15 conducted by www.GreatCollections.com.
Found in 2007, the coin earned the finder a $10,000 reward from the Professional Coin Grading Service for being the first one to be discovered and submitted for authentication. It grades MS-62.
Firm president Ian Russell says the coin will be sold completely unreserved. It is the first time it is being offered for sale since being discovered.
“We’re obviously privileged to offer this coin. Bidding will start at $1,” Russell said.
