Legend-Morphy Rare Coin Auctions has become the official auctioneer for all PCGS Members-Only shows, the two firms announced Aug. 22.
Legend-Morphy will hold one auction per quarter in conjunction with a PCGS show. Each auction will be limited to 500 coins and will feature a select group of hand-picked rarities.
“We’re thrilled to be working with PCGS to develop an exclusive auction concept,” said Laura Sperber, president of Legend. “From the start LM Auctions set out to be different. The PCGS venue provides the ultimate showcase and resources for us to do so.
“Plus, we’ll be unveiling features like capping our auctions at 500 lots and having real disclosure as to if any coins are company owned.”
Each auction will be held in what the firm calls a premier Las Vegas location beginning at 6 p.m. local time on the Thursday during the show. Catalogs will be produced, and all of the sales will be open for Internet bidding via www.legendmorphy.com.
Lot viewing and pickup will be available in the PCGS bourse area.
“PCGS is excited to be a part of the exclusive Legend-Morphy auctions,” said Don Willis, PCGS president. “After discussing this with Laura and her partners, we are convinced that these will become exciting events that no one will want to miss.
“We know the type of clientele that Legend and Morphy have worked with over the years and we look forward to this new venue offering them another means of locating or selling their special coins. All potential bidders wanting to lot view or pick up their winnings will be allowed to attend our Members-Only shows.”
The first Legend-Morphy sale held in conjunction with a PCGS Members-Only show will be Dec. 13 at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
