Idaho selects falcon for quarter

NN0808idaho_bw.jpgA peregrine falcon will grace the Idaho state quarter when it is released in 2007 as the third design for that year.

Gov. Dirk Kempthorne made the design selection in May before he left office. The Treasury secretary ratified it in June.

The decision was announced July 24. The design also features a small map outline of the state, a star for Boise and ?Esto Perpetua,? the state motto.

Donna Weaver, a retired U.S. Mint sculptor, designed the quarter. Sculpting the design was sculptor-engraver Don Everhart.
