ICTA looking for dealers to lobby

The Industry Council for Tangible Assets is looking for dealers to volunteer to do some lobbying Nov. 11 on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., a day prior to set-up day for the Whitman Baltimore Coin and Collectibles Expo in Baltimore.

Dealers being sought would be constituents who live in the districts of the members of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, which oversees tax and other matters.

ICTA hopes to inform the committee members through the dealers about its interest in seeing coins become eligible for inclusion in Individual Retirement Accounts and become eligible for long-terms capital gains tax treatment on profits. ICTA also wants to make clear its opposition to a national sales tax.

Dealers who make the journey will also attend a fund-raiser for Rep. Michael Castle of Delaware, the legislative father of the state quarter program and considered a friend to numismatics
