Hawaii EC set available

The Historic Buildings of Hawaii Elongated Penny Series III is scheduled for release. The four-penny set features four museums on Oahu that play a role in preserving Hawaiian history: the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, the Queen Emma Summer Palace, Washington Place and the Honolulu Academy of Arts.

The Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, designated as the Hawaii State Museum of Natural and Cultural History, was founded in 1889. It is Hawaii’s largest museum, housing science and history exhibits.

The Queen Emma Summer Palace served as a retreat for Queen Emma of Hawaii from 1857 to 1885, as well as for her husband, King Kamehameha IV, and their son, Prince Albert Edward.

Washington Place is the former palace of Queen Lili’uokalani, located in downtown Honolulu. It also served as the official residence of the Governor of Hawaii from 1918 until 2002.

The Honolulu Academy of Arts is an art museum in Honolulu. Since its founding in 1922, its collection has grown to more than 40,000 works of art.
