Gold lots top Bullowa sale

NN0116Bullowobv.jpgOne of the top coins in a 544-lot auction to be conducted Jan. 20, 2007, by C.E. Bullowa, is a 1795 Capped Bust small-eagle reverse $5 gold piece.
The coin is graded AU-58 by Numismatic Guaranty Corp. A pre-sale estimate puts a price of $50,000 on it.

Location of the sale is Philadelphia?s Radisson Plaza Warwick Hotel.
Another top gold piece in the sale is another $5. It is an 1803/2 that is graded MS-64 by the Professional Coin Grading Service. It is housed in an old green holder. The pre-sale estimate for this coin is $40,000

NN0116Bullowrev.jpgEstimated at $30,000 is a 1799 Capped Bust $10 gold piece with Heraldic Eagle reverse. It is graded MS-61 by NGC.

Two gold lots are estimated at $20,000. One is an 1807 Capped Bust facing left $5 coin. It is graded MS-63 by PCGS.

The other gold piece with a $20,000 estimate is a 1907 Roman numeral date Saint-Gaudens $20 with high relief and wire rim. The coin is graded MS-62 and a catalog notation says it is destined to be upgraded.

Among silver coins, a Seated Liberty dollar, an 1852 restrike, graded Proof-64 by PCGS, carries a catalog estimate of $50,000.

A companion piece, the 1851 Seated dollar restrike graded Proof-64 by PCGS, is estimated at $41,000. The cataloger notes attractive haze over a sharp field.

The auction also features almost 100 lots of select world coins from the Cardiff Collection and other holdings. There arealso some paper money and tokens.
