Gold half limits set

goldlibThe U.S. Mint has announced mintage and ordering limits for the gold Centennial Walking Liberty half dollar.

Set to go on sale Nov. 17, the 1/2-ounce coin will carry a mintage of 70,000 and an order limit of three coins per household.

The Walking Liberty half is the third and final release in the Centennial program that gives a nod to popular circulating coin designs issued 100 years ago. Already released are the gold Mercury dime and gold Standing Liberty quarter.

The gold dime, offered for sale on April 21, was a quick sellout. After sales adjustments to the original 125,000 mintage, the figure stands at 116,095. Its order limit was 10 coins per household.

Still for sale, the gold quarter has a mintage cap of 100,000. At last count on Oct. 16, sales stood at 78,870. The coin initially carried a one coin per household ordering limit when it went on sale Sept. 8, but the Mint lifted the limit on Sept. 21.
