Floridians urged to check change

A coin drop was conducted by the Greater Jacksonville, Fla., Coin Club during a two-week period following National Coin Week.

It ended on May 4. The purpose of this event is to inspire the public to collect coins and become a part of the coin collecting hobby, according to the club.

The coins that were placed into circulation were donated to GJCC by Bill Hatchett, owner of A-Coin and Stamp of Jacksonville.

His gift items placed into circulation numbered about 300 and were spent at locations that offered the public a reasonable chance to find them.

Examples of collectibles distributed include many silver coins, key date coins, early date copper issues and even some paper money.

Those in Florida are urged to check any coins that come their way in change. There are treasures waiting to be found.

The Greater Jacksonville Coin Club is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to educating the public about the numismatic hobby. For more information, visit: gjcc.net.
