Silver Eagle bullion coin sales surge

Sales of silver one-ounce American Eagle bullion coins jumped smartly. The May total now stands at 3,262,000, up 2,558,500 since last report. Because the Mint must ration supply, odd sales jumps occur as blanks become available for striking.

Gold bullion Eagles put in respectable sales numbers this week and platinum Eagles are just plain slow.

The continuing saga of the 5-ounce Smoky Mountains crawl to sellout status has now passed the 24,000 mark, just 957 short.

Going off sale were Arthur and both terms of Cleveland Presidential dollars. Harrison had previously gone off sale.

Space has been found for the 2014 proof Buffalo gold piece below. It registered sales of 7,899 in its first report.

Proof Civil Rights dollars passed the 50,000 mark.

Sales of 2014 silver proof sets are approaching 200,000, but haven’t quite made it there yet, up 12,169 this week.
