Eagle prices reflect gold gains

Sales of proof 2008 gold American Eagle coins began March 4 at prices reflecting gold?s recent strong gains.

The one-ounce coin is priced at $1,199.95 and will have a production limit of 25,000 individual coins and up to another 35,000 coins in the four-coin set for a maximum total of 60,000 pieces.

The half-ounce is priced at $609.95, with mintages of 15,000 individual coins and another 35,000 in the set for a possible total of 50,000.

The quarter ounce is priced at $329.95. Maximum individual mintage is 16,000, with another 35,000 possible in the set for a maximum of 51,000.
The tenth ounce is priced at $149.95. Production will be up to 30,000 individual coins and up to another 35,000 in sets for a grand total of 65,000 possible.

The four-coin set is priced at $2,199.95 and has a maximum production of 35,000.
