Buying frenzy for March of Dimes set

The United States Mint released the long-anticipated March of Dimes three-coin set May 4. Buyers were quick to order their sets as the Mint reports 69,050 sets were sold by May 10. The set went off sale two days later.

Authorized Purchasers have exhausted the Mint’s supply of the Kisatchie 5-ounce silver bullion coin. The Mint announced May 7 that the coin’s 42,000 mintage had all been sold.

Collectors began ordering the Dwight D. Eisenhower first day coin cover on May 5 with 10,521 ordered by May 10, an impressive number for a quiet series.

Eisenhower’s wife, Mamie, then had her First Spouse gold coin go on sale May 7. Buyers purchased 587 uncirculated and 1,035 proof coins as of May 10.

This week’s Mint Statistics has some long sold out products in the America the Beautiful and First Spouse categories removed. The products remaining are still available for sale on the Mint’s website.
