August Mint production down

Monthly coin production at the United States Mint declined 7 percent during August from its July level.

The fall of 87.26 million coins was due to drops in output at the Denver Mint.

Philadelphia production increased for the four circulating denominations, cent through quarter. For Denver, only the August nickel number was larger than its July counterpart. But even with the August decline, the monthly average output in the first eight months of 2017 still stands at 1,251,310,000 coins.

No half dollars or dollar coins were made in August.
