Another PNC comes out of Romance, Ark.

The sixth in a series of Valentine’s Day philatelic numismatic covers postmarked from Romance, Ark., is now available.

Every year the town of Romance issues a special postmark in conjunction with the holiday. The postmark is used for the two weeks leading up to Valentine’s Day and then destroyed. This year the exact date of Feb. 14 was not available because it fell on a Sunday.

The “Love” stamps used on the PNC this year are the King and Queen of Hearts stamps. Romance Post Office’s 2010 theme is “Love Station.”

The copper elongated coin housed in the cachet includes both the king and queen on its design. The elongated has the words “Love Station” at the top and “Romance, AR, 2-14-10” at the bottom. The queen and king are featured in the center with a heart in between them. It was designed by Paul Conner and engraved and rolled by Lee Bowser. The cachet also carries a design of a stamp with a heart and the word “love.”

The 2010 cover may be purchased for $5. Previous issues are available for $6. Shipping is $1 regardless of the number of items ordered. Half of the PNCs produced bear the queen Love stamp and the other half bear the king stamp. A stamp preference can be indicated when ordering. Orders not specifying one or the other will be fulfilled at random.

The elongated coin can be purchased separately for $1 for one or $2 for three plus a self-addressed, stamped envelope. If ordering an additional coin with the purchase of a cover, there is no need to send the SASE. The $1 postage charge will cover both.

Send orders to Vicky Bowser, 13898 Masters Drive, Alexander, AR 72002. Questions may be sent to shutterbug@aristotle.net.
