“We can achieve financial stability and growth while robustly furthering our educational mission, including expanding ‘Coins in the Classroom,’ which I cofounded and instructs teachers how to use numismatics in their curriculum. We must update ANA’s delivery system of numismatic educational opportunities,” said the Tiburon, Calif. dealer and former ANA governor.

Kagin also seeks to increase endowment giving and grant funding for the organization.

He recommends giving complimentary memberships to veterans, partnering with numismatic auction houses to offer virtual memberships at no cost to ANA,  arranging special promotions with numismatic firms and using the latest gaming technology to stimulate interest by young people.

Kagin said he is proud of the fact that his firm donated free ANA memberships to buyers of Saddle Ridge Hoard coins.

“Numismatics has been a large part of my life, growing up in the business, working for my father and uncle, pioneering the first B.A. degree and the first and only Ph.D. in numismatics,” he said.

Kagin said he has served on six non-profit boards and numerous committees primarily in numismatics and education

He has been an ANA Summer Seminar instructor periodically since 1973. He contributes to several numismatic guidebooks and serves ANA and the Professional Numismatists Guild as a mediator.

Kagin has written three numismatic books and many articles.

“I will also be reaching out to the numismatic community for suggestions,” he said.
