The dollar has been graded VF-25 by Professional Coin Grading Service.
?For the 1870-S Seated Liberty silver dollar, only nine specimens have been auctioned to date and just three more are rumored to exist,? said Steve Deeds, president of B&M. ?Without question this is one of the rarest U.S. coins ever struck for circulation.?
Also notable in the U.S. portion of B&M?s 3,220-lot auction is the Dan McClure collection?s Registry Set of gold commemoratives, consisting of the 11-piece 1903-1926 set of circulation strikes. McClure?s set, listed as ?Deep 2? with PCGS, is ranked second among both the Current and All Time Finest Collections and is listed on the PCGS.com Web site. It will be auctioned as individual lots.
Among other U.S. coin highlights is a 1937-D three-legged Buffalo nickel, FS-020.2, graded MS-66 by Numismatic Guaranty Corp., as well as an 1867 Shield nickel with rays in PCGS Proof-64.
A 1794 Flowing Hair half dime, NGC MS-67, is joined by a 1794 Flowing Hair half dollar, O-106, PCGS AU-58. An 1806 Draped Bust half dollar, O-116, pointed 6, NGC MS-65*, will also cross the block.
Silver dollars include a proof 1884 Morgan, NGC Proof-68* Ultra Cameo.
For fans of $3 gold pieces, a proof 1864 is offered in NGC Proof-66 Cameo. Also featured among gold coins is a 1910-S Indian $10 gold piece, NGC MS-66.
Double eagles include a 1908-S Saint-Gaudens gold $20, PCGS MS-66, and a proof 1910 Saint-Gaudens $20, NGC Proof-66.
